Approximate bottom contribution to remote sensing reflectance in Taihu Lake, China

► The contribution of the bottom and submerged vegetation on reflectance were studied. ► Differences of the lake bottom strongly influence the spectral characteristics. ► Hydrolight was more representative with high concentrations of suspended sediments. ► A high improvement of Chl-a estimation was made while bottom influences removed.
