Mobile WiMAX based on OFDM technology has been implemented in several countries at 2600 MHz and 3500 MHz bands. OFDM technology promises high throughput based on availability of good signal strength and CINR which helps to achieve higher modulation coding gain. In the present paper, anWiMAX installation at a green field area was studied. Spectral efficiency obtained established a definite relationship with CINR in regions with good signal strength. Spectral efficiencies of OFDM at 2600 MHz has been compared with CDMA-EVDO and GSM-EDGE technologies at 900 MHZ band from knowledge of RSSI and CINR. The obtained results shall be useful for assessment of data rate performance of OFDM technology at 900 MHz when implemented through cognitive radio.
