This paper deals with the complex study of the acoustic rehabilitation of an educational building belonging to the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca and with the presentation of the measures to be adopted to fully satisfy the basic requirement of buildings “protection against noise” and to provide optimal speech intelligibility in lecture and seminar rooms. In spite of the fact that the building in question exhibits many of the features of green buildings, in fact, it was not subjected to a sound-based research and hence the purpose of this paper lies in drawing the attention to the need of taking into account aspects also related to the acoustic comfort. The goal of the acoustic design lies in showing how to bring noise down to the limit values imposed by acoustic comfort requirements in buildings and built environment and to provide a proper sound quality in public audition rooms.
