Luminescent properties of Eu2+and Dy3+ ions in Ba4Al2O7 phosphor for solid state lighting

► The emission is a symmetrical band at 495 nm in Ba4Al2O7: Eu2+ phosphor. ► Ba4Al2O7:Dy3+ phosphors show efficient blue and yellow band emissions. ► Eu2+ and Dy3+ activated Ba4Al2O7 phosphor could find application in solid state lighting.
