Preparation of Jeffamine based quaternary ammonium iodide melt for dye sensitized solar cells

► Jeffamine based quaternary ammonium ionic liquid was prepared and used as electrolyte for dye sensitized solar cells. ► Viscosity and diffusion coefficient measurements were performed to qualify this ionic liquid as iodide source for DSSC's. ► Effect of inorganic iodide additives like LiI, NaI and KI on the solar cell performance was evaluated. ► High efficiency with LiI was attributed to the electrostatic attraction of Li cation with oxygen atom of ionic liquid.
