Conformational vibrations of ionic lattice in DNA

►The counterion influence on DNA low-frequency Raman spectra (< 200 cm−1) is studied. ►The spectra of DNA with Na+, Cs+, and Mg2+ counterions are calculated. ►Internal DNA modes (10-120 cm−1) depend essentially on counterion type and position. ►Developed approach provides a way to study counterion role in DNA dynamics.
