Evidence for an influence of anodic decomposition products of ionic liquids on the electrodeposition of SixGe1 − x semiconductor

► Unexpectedly, SixGe1 − x dissolves with long electrodeposition time. ► The dissolution occurs in TFSA-ionic liquids and not in FAP-ones. ► The dissolution was suppressed when isolating the anode from the reaction solution. ► TFSA decomposes at the anode and the by-products oxidize SixGe1 − x chemically.
