Aggregation of imidazolium based ionic liquids in binary methanol-water solvents: A linear solvation free energy relationship study

► The aggregation of 1-dodecyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride ionic liquid in methanol-water mixed solvent was studied for the first time. ► The dependency of miccelization parameters on solvent composition was explained by linear salvation free energy relationship analysis. ► A comparison was made between the miccelization parameters of the ionic liquid and a surfactant of the same aliphatic chain.
