Multi-resonance effects within a single chirp in broadband rotational spectroscopy: The rapid adiabatic passage regime for benzonitrile

► A new broadband rotational spectrometer from 2 to 8.5 GHz is introduced. ► Multiple excitations within a single chirp have been observed for benzonitrile. ► This is an indication for the strong coupling regime of rapid adiabatic passage. ► Switching between the strong and the weak-coupling regime can ease the assignment.
