MOF-derived porous Co3O4 cuboids with excellent performance as anode materials for lithium-ion batteries

Porous Co3O4 nanostructures with high capacities and energy density are extensively investigated as anode materials for lithium-ion batteries. Herein, we report a facile method to synthesis of porous Co3O4 cuboids through direct thermolysis of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). Evaluated as anode materials for lithium-ion batteries, the resulted porous Co3O4 cuboids presented excellent cycling performance (886 mAh g−1 at 100 mA g−1 after 100 cycles) and good rate capability. The enhanced electrochemical performance can be attributed to their porous structures, which can shorten the pathway for lithium ions and electrons during cycling.
