- The computational tools were used to predict the effect of non-synonymous SNPs in bovine TLR4 gene.
- Among the 110 nsSNPs, arranged according to the predictions, 17.2% were classified as damaging.
- These results will help understanding the variation in immune response due to SNPs.

The toll like receptor 4 is part of the innate immune system involved in the control of Gram negative pathogens mostly. Any polymorphism in this gene has been associated with susceptibility to diseases. Here we used 4 computational tools based on different approaches to predict the damage-associated non-synonymous single nucleotide polymorphisms (nsSNPs) in the coding region of bovine TLR4 gene. Among the 110 nsSNPs, arranged according to the predictions, 17.2% were classified as damaging in all the tools. The classification was also correlated with the scores of PredictSNP consensus programs. The computational analysis proved capable of identifying the potentially damaging nsSNPs in TLR4, which are candidates for further laboratory studies of the functional significance of the alterations in the receptor and the phenotypic outcomes.
