Cadmium stabilization with nursery stocks through transplantation: A new approach to phytoremediation

► Cupressus Blue Ice was tolerant to 100 mg kg−1 Cd exposure. ► Cd was mainly stabilized in epidermis other than cortex plus stele of root. ► Negligible Cd in transplanted roots was released into bulk soil. ► Usefulness and limitations of the new approach were evaluated.
