Oral glutamine supplementation during preoperative radiochemotherapy in patients with rectal cancer: A randomised double blinded, placebo controlled pilot study

► Glutamine ingestion was studied in rectal cancer patients during preoperative radiochemotherapy. ► Patients received 30 g of glutamine for five weeks. ► We found glutamine in this dose does not diminish the incidence and severity of diarrhoea. ► We also found no influence on inflammatory and metabolic response.
