Prevalence of Acanthamoeba spp. in Tasmanian intensive care clinical specimens

Colonization of ICU patients' respiratory tracts with Acanthamoeba spp. does occur. This may have significance for the role of acanthamoebae as a source of bacterial pathogens in intensive therapy patients' respiratory tracts.
