The effect of modified TiO2 nanoparticles on the polyethersulfone ultrafiltration hollow fiber membranes

► Mechanically and chemically modified TiO2 in PES hollow fibers were investigated. ► The nanocomposite hollow fibers had higher flux and slightly lower molecular weight cutoff. ► Flux recovery after cleaning did not improve in the nanocomposite membranes. ► Nanocomposite PES hollow fibers were robust and more difficult to deform. ► Tensile strength and elongation at break were reduced.
