Reversible removal of SO2 at low temperature by l-α-alanine supported on γ-Al2O3

► l-α-Alanine supported on γ-Al2O3 as desulfurization adsorbent. ► The adsorbent exhibited an excellent activity on SO2 removal. ► Water vapor promoted SO2 removal and low temperature was conducive for the process. ► SO2 adsorbed on the adsorbent via weak and strong adsorption. ► The adsorbent had an excellent regeneration performance.
