Inhomogeneous flows and shear banding formation in micellar solutions: Predictions of the BMP model

► The shear-banding flow for simple-shear inhomogeneous flow is examined. ► The Bautista-Manero-Puig (BMP) model without gradient terms is used. ► The actual flow initiation in a parallel plate rheometer is mimicked. ► Both, strain-controlled and stress controlled conditions are considered. ► Stress plateau approaches same value independently of the shear history.
