A multilayer approach for enhancing the erosive wear resistance of CVD diamond coatings

► Multilayered diamond composites coatings were produced by hot filament CVD method. ► Outstanding erosive wear resistance of multilayered diamond composites was proven. ► Few material loss instead of film delamination takes place for the multilayers. ► An analytical model of the Hertzian stress field profile is presented.
