Tribological properties of short glass fiber reinforced polyamide 12 sliding on medium carbon steel

► The PA12 composite as an automotive gear component in the humid environment. ► Significant decrease of wear rate at elevated temperatures by reinforcing glass fibers. ► The wear was more dependent on fiber content and temperature than fiber orientation. ► The best property with the composite with 30 wt.% glass fibers in normal orientation.
