Acid-catalyzed hydrothermal severity on the fractionation of agricultural residues for xylose-rich hydrolyzates

► Agricultural residues were fractionated through a dilute acid hydrothermal process. ► Fractionation conditions on three agricultural residues were optimized using CS. ► Fractionation behaviors of each residues exhibited different characteristics. ► Barley straw was fractionated efficiently with high selectivity at a milder condition.
