Prise en charge des symptômes douloureux par la médecine traditionnelle haïtienne : résultats d'une enquête réalisée dans le quartier de Martissant à Port-au-Prince

Main results of the survey conducted in the district of Martissant about the management of painful symptoms by traditional Haitian medicine. In 2015, Douleurs sans frontières and FOKAL conducted an ethnobotanical survey among the population of Martissant, district of Port-au-Prince in Haiti. The main goal of the study was to identify the knowledge and practices of the households in their management of symptoms and/or pains by the use of medicinal plants. The outcomes of the survey contribute to updating the scientific data in the field of traditional medicine in Haiti, focusing on most promising plants - paving the way for further investigations - and considering possible complementarities between traditional and conventional medicine in the management of pain. This article presents a synthesis of the results of the survey and its methodology.
