Development of a simple method for quantitation of methanesulfonic acid at low ppm level using hydrophilic interaction chromatography coupled with ESI-MS

- We developed a simple method to quantitate MSA at 1-10 ppm using HILIC-ESI-MS.
- The methodology is useful to control alkyl sulfonate genotoxic impurities.
- HILIC retention mechanism was also investigated.
- The advantage of using ESI-MS detection in HILIC mode was demonstrated.
