A numerical investigation of hydrogen absorption phenomena in thin double-layered annulus ZrCo beds

► A three-dimensional hydrogen absorption model is developed. ► Equilibrium pressure is derived as a function of H/M atomic ratio and temperature. ► Absorption model is validated against the temperature evolution measured data. ► The hydrogen charging time for 99% absorption is captured by the present model. ► This study provides fundamental understanding of heat and mass transfer phenomenon.
