Hydrogen production through NaBH4 hydrolysis over supported Ru catalysts: An insight on the effect of the support and the ruthenium precursor

‣ Strong effect of the support and Ru precursor on the activity of Ru catalysts. ‣ Order of activity: Ru/activated carbon >> Ru/CeO2 > Ru/TiO2 > Ru/γ-Al2O3. ‣ Ex-RuCl3 catalysts much more active than ex-Ru(NO)(NO3)3 samples. ‣ NaBH4 hydrolysis is a structure sensitive reaction. ‣ Ru/activated carbon samples prepared by RuCl3 are suitable for HOD applications.
