Novel benzimidazolium salts and their silver complexes: Synthesis and antibacterial properties

► A novel benzimidazolium salts and their silver complexes were prepared. ► The compounds were examined by IR, 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy. ► The antimicrobial activity of all compounds were studied. ► The silver-NHC complexes showed better effect for all bacteria strains.
