Simulation of turning circle by CFD: Analysis of different propeller models and their effect on manoeuvring prediction

▸ URaNS solver is used for the prediction of a turning circle manoeuvre of a surface ship. ▸ Different propeller models are compared. ▸ Comparison is made with experimental free running tests. ▸ A suitable propeller model for the in-plane loads must be included for the correct predication of the manoeuvre. ▸ Loads on both the inner and outer propellers are investigated.
