Calcium flux balance in the heart

► Cardiac cells must be in calcium flux balance on each beat and therefore influx and efflux must be equal. ► We discuss how this balance is maintained in various inotropic situations. ► We consider the effects of altering the activity of the Ryanodine Receptor, SERCA and L-type Ca channel.
