Original stimuli-sensitive polysaccharide derivatives/N-isopropylacrylamide hydrogels. Role of polysaccharide backbone

► Hydrogels are prepared from functionalized Xanthan or Gellan and NIPAm. ► LCST close to body temperature is determined for these hydrogels. ► Polysaccharide backbone has an influence on LCST, swelling properties. ► Chain stiffness, charge density and ability to form hydrogen interactions influence properties. ► Hydrogels are candidates for biomedical applications.
