Altering the growth conditions of Gluconacetobacter xylinus to maximize the yield of bacterial cellulose

► Bacterial growth conditions were studied to maximize the yield of cellulose. ► 25 different reaction media and carbon source combinations were investigated. ► Crystallinity of bacterial cellulose were found to vary with different media. ► Through experimental design the yield of cellulose was maximized.
