Study of the properties of biocomposites. Part I. Cassava starch-green coir fibers from Brazil

► This paper describes preparation of a biocomposite with cassava starch mixed with glycerol as matrix and different amount of green coir fibers of Brazil. ► The matrix has been given thermal (annealing) treatment. ► Both the matrix (with and without heat treatment) and their composites are evaluated for physical and mechanical properties. ► To the best of the authors' knowledge, this is the first attempt reported on this.
