Understanding the micro structure of Berea Sandstone by the simultaneous use of micro-computed tomography (micro-CT) and focused ion beam-scanning electron microscopy (FIB-SEM)

▶ First time FIB-SEM is used to investigate the pore structure of Berea sandstone. ▶ Combination of micro-CT and FIB-SEM has been used to describe the microstructure. ▶ Rock material is made of large crater voids and small pores (30-40 μm). ▶ Absence of any 2-5 μm pores, contrary to micro-CT images.
