Oxidation behavior of arc-sprayed FeMnCrAl/Cr3C2-Ni9Al coatings deposited on low-carbon steel substrates

► FeMnCrAl/Cr3C2-Ni9Al coating on carbon steel substrates was prepared by arc spraying. ► Ni9Al interlayer improved the oxidation resistance of the arc-sprayed coatings. ► The FeMnCrAl/Cr3C2-Ni9Al coating registered the lowest oxidation rate. ► Ni and Fe formed a diffusion layer that inhibited the oxidation of the interface.
