Structural and tribological properties of DC reactive magnetron sputtered titanium/titanium nitride (Ti/TiN) multilayered coatings

►Ti/TiN multilayers were deposited by reactive DC magnetron sputtering technique. ►The presence of phases like TiN, TiOxNy and TiO2 was confirmed by XPS analyses. ►The multilayer coatings showed improved wear resistance. ►Ti/TiN multilayers can improve the corrosion resistance of mild steel substrates.
