Characterization of cancer stem-like cells derived from a side population of a human gallbladder carcinoma cell line, SGC-996

► We sorted SP cells from a human gallbladder carcinoma cell lines, SGC-996. ► SP cells displayed higher proliferation and stronger clonal-generating capability. ► SP cells showed more migratory and invasive abilities. ► SP cells were more resistant and tumorigenic than non-SP counterparts. ► ABCG2 might be a candidate as a marker for SP cells.
