Optical properties of lead thiogallate

We studied the growth conditions for undoped lead thiogallate PbGa2S4, measured the main values of its refractive indices over the transparency range 0.5−10 μm, and determined the polarization dependence of the absorption coefficients for Dy,Na:PbGa2S4 near 1.314 μm. Lasing of this crystal at 4.33 μm is also demonstrated.
