Influence of charge state on the reaction of FeO3+/- with carbon monoxide

We demonstrate the charge state of FeO3 has a strong effect on its ability to oxidize CO to CO2 using stored oxygen. Clusters are stabilized by charge transfer from metal to oxygen, requiring more energy to remove oxygen from anionic clusters and weakening Fe-O bonds in cationic clusters.
