Photoluminescence analyses of hydrogenated amorphous silicon nitride thin films

► PL efficiency was found to exponentially increase as the band tail is widened. ► Radiative recombination is favored at a particular band tail density of states. ► PL peak energy can reach half of the optical gap by further alloying.
