Direct trifluoroacetylation of mono- and disubstituted thiophene derivatives

Trifluoroacetylation of thiophene and its derivatives was achieved using trifluoroacetic anhydride and magnesium perchlorate dehydrate as catalyst, in a one-pot procedure.
