Up-scaling the size of TiAl components made via ingot metallurgy

► The paper describes a novel method for the production of large TiAl components. ► The technique can potentially eliminate all defects which can be identified using non destructive techniques. ► As such techniques were not employed in the current study a variety of defects were found and their origin discussed. ► Nevertheless very good tensile properties were determined for the large disc that was examined.
