Microstructure and property modifications in a near α Ti alloy induced by pulsed electron beam surface treatment

► One kind of near α Ti alloy has been treated with high current pulsed electron beam technique. ► The melted layer and solid state transformation layer of treated samples contained α' martensite. ► The cooling rate was estimated from the size of the prior-β grains. ► Microhardness and corrosion properties of treated samples have been characterized.
