Oxidation protection of carbon fibers by a reaction sintered nanostructured SiC coating

► Nanostructured SiC coating on the carbon fibers were fabricated by reaction sintering with milled Si and C powder. ► Oxidation property of carbon fibers with coating has been compared with that of as-received carbon fibers. ► Effect of fabrication process on the oxidation resistance of the coated fibers has been studied.
