Aerosol deposition of hydroxyapatite-chitosan composite coatings on biodegradable magnesium alloy

►Highly dense and adherent hydroxyapatite (HA)-chitosan is deposited on AZ31 Mg alloy by aerosol deposition. ►HA-chitosan composite coating on AZ31 Mg alloy significantly decreases the corrosion rate of the AZ31 Mg alloy. ►The incorporation of chitosan into the HA coating remarkably improves biocompatibility.
