Diagnostic et traitement des douleurs neuropathiques périphériques en milieu spécialisé dans une démarche de prise en charge globale : recommandations d'un groupe d'experts pour les pays du Maghreb francophone

Over the last 3 years, international guidelines on neuropathic pain (NeP) diagnosis and treatment had been adapted to specific needs of different regions of the world. Our interdisciplinary group of experts recently published guidelines for NeP adapted to specificities of the Maghrebian countries (Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria). According to our experience, the most frequent etiologies of NeP in our countries are diabetes, herpes zoster, chronic low back pain and cancer. The panel of experts met to produce this review in order to summarize the guidelines applicable to all NeP regardless of their etiologie, and to address to specialists the specific aspects related to the four pathologies cited above. These recommendations aim as well at promoting diagnosis and treatment of NeP in the specialist setting of the Maghrebian countries as an integrated management approach.
