Anticholinesterase and antioxidant activities of Savoury (Satureja thymbra L.) with identified major terpenes of the essential oil

► Anticholinesterase activity of Satureja thymbra was studied for the first time. ► Thyme demonstrated significant antioxidant and anticholinesterase activities. ► Both activities were performed on thymol, carvacrole, p-cymene and γ-terpinene. ► All the work done on the plant so far has been highlighted. ► How γ-terpinene scavenging oxygen was discussed with its scavenging mechanism.
