Protective effect of antrosterol from Antrodia camphorata submerged whole broth against carbon tetrachloride-induced acute liver injury in mice

The fruiting body of Antrodia camphorata (AC) is well known in Taiwan as a traditional Chinese medicine. It has been used for the treatment of food and drug intoxication, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, hypertension, skin itching, and cancer. Antrosterol (ergostatrien-3β-ol, ST1) was isolated from AC. In this paper we speculate that ST1 protects mice from liver damage through their anti-inflammation capacity.
