چکیده انگلیسی
The aim of this study is to investigate the etymological interpretations of scientific and artistic compositions of Ovid's “Fast” and the evaluation of their reliability in terms of modern etymological science. In this article, we consider, among other things, the etymology of the Agonalia in detail. The main research method is the comparative-historical method with the modern techniques of etymological analysis. On the basis of the study, we came to the conclusion on the correctness of one of the hypotheses suggested by the ancient poets about the origin of the name of the holiday, which is motivated by ritual sacrifice.
