Evolution of microstructures in severely deformed AA 3104 aluminum alloy by multiple constrained compression

► MCC in a channel die is a valid means of imparting severe plastic deformation. ► Large scale shear bands and the evidence for strain localization are observed. ► A cell block structure with high-angle boundaries is developed at large strain. ► Shear deformation results in finer structure with higher misorientation.
