► EDR is an effective anti-inflammatory agent on RAW 264.7 cells. ► EDR is an effective anti-inflammatory agent on ICR mice. ► EDR decreases LPS-induced NO production in RAW 264.7 cells. ► EDR inhibits the development of paw oedema induced by λ-carrageenan. ► Fingerprint indicates that EDR contains vanillin, umbelliferone and scopoletin.
