Supercritical and high pressure subcritical fluid extraction from Lemon balm (Melissa officinalis L., Lamiaceae)

- Extraction of Lemon balm by two-step fractional subcritical and supercritical extraction was examined.
- Hydrodistillation of Lemon balm was performed by Clevenger standard method.
- Analysis of yield and composition profile of balm extract obtained by hydrodistillation and two-step SFE extraction was performed.
- The pseudo kinetic model was applied to define the relation between the yield of Lemon balm extracts and CO2 consumption.
- The free radical scavenging capacity (RSC) of obtained extracts was measured and their antioxidant activity was determined.
