Analyzing and theoretically accommodating the presence of diverse perspectives or frames during the implementation process has proved conceptually complex and empirically elusive within the extant IS research. The purpose of this manuscript is to introduce a research methodology to rectify these challenges in analyzing frames, i.e., signature matrix. We posit that this approach can help scholars to research perspectives or frames in a more transparent and straightforward manner which has been rare so far and as a result contribute to frame analysis in IS research.
► Introducing signature matrix as a method of doing frame research where multiple views during IS implementation process exist.
► Systems being made workable is more preferable to the elusive goal of obtaining perfect requirements or being stuck with conflict-stalemate.
► Analyzing how systems are made workable via framing and frame change is proposed as a viable research approach.
► Framing and frame change can be analyzed by employing frame elements signature matrix.
► Signature matrix: master frame, catch-phrase, problem-definition, diagnosis and prognosis, empirical credibility, frame resonance.
